Nine year old Eleahjah had a very busy Saturday. After breakfast, she went for a walk at a nearby park with her older brothers. After walking, she rented a bike and rode around the park for one hour. Then she sat down to rest under a big shady tree.
After eating lunch at home, she took a short nap, then played a game of chess with her father. In the afternoon, she attended her cousin's birthday party. She ate cake and ice cream. played parlor games and dance with the other guests.

Take time to have a rest There are times during the day when you need to rest. Rest is a short period of relaxation that the body needs after a tiring activity. It relieves the body and the mind of the feeling of tiredness.
You get tired when you work hard because the oxygen and food that give energy to your body are being used up. Thus, your body needs to slow down so that it can regain the energy it lost.
The amount of time needed for you to rest depends on how much energy you spent on a particular activity. At school, you are given a few minuted to rest during recess. At home, you can rest by simply sitting down of lying around. You can also watch television, listen to music, read a book nor even sleep.
Sleep is an important form of rest. It prepares your body for the coming day. Your body also repairs itself when you are asleep. Lack of sleep can affect your growth as well as your immune system which keeps you form getting sick.
A time for recreation
Nowadays.more and more children are participating in activities that they enjoy and that help them relax when they are not going to school. Such as an activity called
recreation.
Recreational activities can be done alone, by pairs or in groups. They come in different forms. Examples are:
- sports such as swimming, basketball, badminton, volleyball, and billiards
- Outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, camping, and gardening
- indoor activities such as watching televisions, dvd's, reading books and magazines, playing video games and board games, surfing the internet
- hobbies involve music such as playing guitar, piano, drums also different kind of stitching like cross stitchings and crochet
After a tiring day, reward yourself with some rest and recreation. Just make sure that you balance your time for work and time for play.
